Producing a thousand boats per year with Manu Online
AMT Boats (Advanced Marine Technology) is a successful boat manufacturer focusing on the serial production of motor boats for the Scandinavian and European market. They have a history going back more than 30 years and to date have produced almost 30,000 boats. They specialise in the 4–7 m size range. They operate from two factories in Finland producing up to 1,600 boats per year.
AMT use Manu Online Enterprise Edition as their corporate ERP solution. Each boat is manufactured as its own work order — mostly standard but sometimes with customer specifications. They are an example of lean manufacturing: high throughput with a batch size of one. Serial numbers are used to trace individual boats using the "hull number" from the start of manufacturing through to dealer sales to the end user.
